Hello all!

I'm here because I am definitely displaced. I'm from NH, and a few years back I moved to NV in the spur of a moment kind of thing. I found a rewarding job working as a secretary at a dental office. I welcomed patients, took calls, verified insurances, duped x-rays, etc. It was a nice job, and I felt like I was helping people out in a way. Later on I decided I had to move back to NH to be with my family. I left with a recommendation and my few belongings. Ever since I've been searching for a job that was somewhat similar to the one I had...Impossible to find, to get, I don't know what it is with me, but I'm praying for that job.

Greetings to all. I am new to this group. I am a displaced single mom from DC now residing in Raleigh, NC. I have a spent the last 20 years working as a legal secretary and am currently in the process of changing careers by taking a Medical billing and coding certification classs on-line. I was wondering if anyone had pointer on how to revise my resume to not make it so specific to the legal field, but not make it fraudulent. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I am trying to move to the Atlanta area, I am looking for a job but it is really hard to get call backs since I live in Michigan. I don't want to move there with no job because of the economy and I don't know how long it will take to find one once i'm there. Is there any advice that anyone can give me on how I can get a job out of state?

Hi all,
As Chanel suggested, there are jobs with the 2010 Census Bureau. I have been hired as a Recruiting Assistant. This job will last 9 to 18 months. In Tennessee, there are still jobs available for clerks, Crew Leaders, Crew Leader Assistants, as well as, census takers. Check with your local office, because many of these jobs will still be available in your area. The duration of each job is different, but all jobs are termed temporary. As you know the Census determines how many members your area has in the House of Representatives. How Federal money is apportioned and the need for new services in your area. It is a great way to make a difference.
Since all jobs are temporary, there are no benefits, but the pay is above average.
Call the 1-866-861-2010 number to arrange for a test in your area. The higher you score the better the chance of being called. You can retake the test as many times as you like and only your highest score will be recorded.
I am excited to be a part of this.

Hey everyone.

My interests have always been in office related work. In the late eighties I started taking computer classes and got five years experience running the front lobby of busy corporation. Being a male, getting any type of office job has been difficult at best. I've also got two years of Paralegal training under my belt. The companies that generally call me back are for jobs that have no relationship with my skills or training. It is frustrating. I keep improving my marketing skills, but no one is biting, at least in the N VA area. I'll get hits for things like data entry, hotel clerk, security, carpet cleaning, sales. The areas where I have the weakest skills and training.

Maybe if I change my name to Jamie and start shaving my legs I'll get noticed more. If it wasn't for temp agencies, I'd probably have no office experience at all. Any other men having similar problems here? What's the point of improving your skills if nobody will hire you to use them? So frustrating.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

Hi Everyone, it's been a week or more since I've posted, but no fear I'm back with a "Job lead for All"! WOOHOO!

Please visit www.2010census.gov or call 1.866.861.2010. The Census department needs workers to gather information for the 2010 update. When you contact the bureau you will be asked for the County you reside in, your zip code, and if you're eligible to work in the US. You will then be given a date, time, and testing site to visit to take your test to become a census worker. PLEASE NOTE: If chosen, you will not be working until late February/March. The pay is decent and the job is non-stressful or physically strenuous. Training is also paid.

Hope this helps someone.

Chanel~

If anyone is chosen, I'd like to hear from you. Maybe you could share your experiences with us all=)
