In what aspect are you questioning the role of marketing in a hospital? For staffing agencies, such as mine, it is to initiate a relationship and/or potential business. We generally use marketing calls to learn more about the client, client needs, and general information.

One reason hospital census are down is due to the fact they immediately start discharge planning as soon as a person is admitted. If it is a senior for example let's say with a hip injury the hospital immediately looks at rehab in a nursing home. If a Family member does not act as an advocate the Hospital chooses a nursing home and quite often the family member will receive a call that their loved one is in the Nursing Home. More than likely this patient did not even see a geriatric physician. Often the Hospitals state insurance issues for discharging the patient, they are only covered for a certain amount or a certain time. The hospital in the interest of making money naturally is looking for the patient with private pay as compared to a medicaid or medicare patient. So in light of this a Social Worker can be assured they will always have a position in The Hospital System. Nursing homes offer training for CNA's They need 6 hours of training per year which companies generally will pay for due to the high need for CNA:S. A CNA has a tough job but in most cases know more about the residents they serve than Administration. Anyone who becomes a CNA you have my utmost respect. Having worked in a Nursing home I honestly say I can appreciate the efforts they put in to provide quality care to the residents. If you are looking for a career where your job will be very safe check with your local career builder office for more information. CNA = CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT:

Hello Jennifer! I am freelancing as a contract worker in executive staffing, I have also done recent placements in the healthcare arena through an affiliate company, really what I am finding is two things: companies are looking at their operations and ROI on current employees productivity. This doesnt imply to terminate folks, but to ensure they, as a company are indeed offering growth opportunites to their internal staff as in professional development.

Which is the second, staff- Professional Development, Training & Coaching. If they are not doing this, its no wonder they are having placement issues even in non healthcare companies.

Lastly, healthcare census in hospitals is down as we know, oddly enough in a stressful ecomony everyone is 'well' however, I am glad, from a business point census being at an all time low hurts staffing. The impact has resulting in an extreme slow to meet the travel or perm placements accross the board.

I have some great solutions for this challange as a unique opportunity to shine in the eyes of healthcare clients that I sampled and proved worked! I am just waiting for the right staffing company to take a chance on me to work with them!

Three key areas of opportunity I will share today: 1- Servicing the client now is so important, and NOT BY EMAIL ONLY. iF FOLKS think this is service its not. 2 - Presentation of candidates & showcasing. 3 - FOLLOW UP. This should have been first.

I do a eNews by email and online teleconference training for professional development (which is what companies are looking for).

Hope you all prosper and continue your professioanl growth, this is a great time to 'be polished & shine' in everyones eyes!

If you know of anyone hiring talent, please let me know.

It really depends on the size of the agency you work with. Nursefinders is a national company that has been in business for over 30 years. We have many companies that fall under our umbrella as sister companies. So with the size of the company we are able to offer our field staff benefits. It is a basic plan. So the coverage is not extensive. But it also allows the employee to at least have the option. We offer 401K and educational assistance as well. I have to say the best part of what we do is the career counseling and the ability to watch our staff grow in such a positive direction. Remember that the contact we have, as managers, with our employees has an effect on the community as well.

I was in The Staffing arena for a while. The problems I encountered were that they did not provide Medical Benefits. Strangely enough, I am not a Medical Benefits Provider, along with Consulting and teaching others how to utilize their skills and talents. The best and most rewarding part of it is watching others succeed and knowing you were a part of that success.
