I Joined BrightFuse. Now What?

Here are some tips on how to make the tools work for you and get the most out of your experience.

Your Profile

  • Showcase your background, qualifications and experience.
    • Put it all down here. The more complete this section is, the more your contacts will get to know about your skills and abilities. Be proud of your professional achievements. You’ve worked hard to get them.
  • Add some personality with About Me.
    • There’s so much more to you than just the bullet points on your resume. Give your profile some flavor.
  • Declare your interests.
    • Are you a job seeker? Want to get back in touch? Let your contacts know. These little touches can tip off the right connections.
  • Keep people updated with your status.
    • It gives people a warm and fuzzy feeling to know they are in your loop. Plus, it could strike up important conversation.
  • Tip: Don’t leave your profile blank
    • That would be like going to a party and not talking to anyone. Your profile is the way other professionals can get to know you.
  • Tip: Check your spelling and grammar
    • Nothing ruins a first impression more than a typo.
  • Tip: Add a photo
    • Give your profile a face. Just make sure the picture is in good taste (save the glamour shots).

Your Portfolio

Your Recommendations

  • Recommendations build your credibility.
    • Colleagues, friends, supervisors are all more than welcome to go on about how fantastic you are. They really know you, so their opinions have a lot of value to people who don’t.
  • Tip: Don’t get discouraged.
    • It takes people a little bit to think about what they want to say and to set aside the time to write a nice recommendation.

Your Contacts

  • Invite your friends and colleagues to join.
    • Instantly build a network with the people you already know. It makes networking with their contacts even easier.
  • Get to know your colleagues.
    • Enriching those relationships could lead to advancement and other good connections. See what they’re working on, send them a message, or wish them a happy birthday.
  • Get insight from other professionals.
    • Find a career path in your industry, or, what other industries are like and what sorts of jobs are within them.
  • Tip: Choose quality over quantity.
    • Create a focused network. Connect strategically with people who can help you get where you want to be.
