Currently looking for work, Contract or Permanent
I have long been a driven asset to organizations inside and out of Information Technology. I realize that a career in Technology means always learning new things. I am diversified in my skills, and I am always looking for new avenues to take, such as Data basing, Linux Administration, and Networking with Cisco or Nortel. I take pride in being a team member, and provide value to a team. I am also a self starter who is not afraid to work alone. I have managed people in the Marines and in the restaurant business. I believe to be of any value one must be as flexible as possible. Technology is a business in flux, and being able to adapt and over come is essential. Systems are not built without reason, clients are involved. A professional must exceed the expectations of his or her clients. This is done through patients, perseverance and most definitely resourcefulness.
While in the Marines I developed self-discipline and self-management skills that I still use today. While in the Marines I studied a long time passion, electronics. I cannot say enough about the core values I learned and still value today. Not only did I choose the Marines, but I was also able to choose one of the hardest Occupations to get into. I did this with my Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) score.
Soon after leaving the Military I pursued even further into the field of Electronics by attending ITT Tech in the Computer Electronics Engineering Program. I graduated in September of 2003 with honors. Immediately, I started on my Bachelors of Science degree in Information Systems Security and graduated just short of honors. During this time I got Married, had my second and third, of four children. My wife became really sick with our third child during my Bachelors program.
In December of 2004 I had the opportunity to be a private consultant for CTI, PETNET pharmaceuticals. I was highly challenged with a large-scale project that combined many aspects of my IT knowledge. I assisted the upgrade of 48 PETNET sites, nation and world wide, to a Windows Server 2003 active directory structure.
While working on this large scale project I also worked on a project to setup communications with Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 Uninterruptible Power Supplies for eight of the PETNET sites. The communications involved SNMP communications on the backend while providing a Web interface on the front end. This was implemented to support a zero down time environment for critical healthcare systems.
Further, I was required to train pharmaceutical technicians how to use the new systems, help establish a maintenance plan for the systems, provide twenty-four hour support for all sites, and periodically visit the sites for maintenance and systems upgrades.
I was challenged again by leading a team to bring approximately 800 machines throughout CTI into policy compliance with the newly acquired Siemens Information Info structure.
After completing my assignments with (Siemens-CTI), I was offered a position as a Systems Administrator for EPRI Solutions. I have been extremely challenged with a much broader range of tasks. I expanded upon my Active Directory skills, learned Meridian Phone Systems, setup a large scale application to track IT activities, configured databases, setup several different types of servers including a 2003 exchange server, SNAP (BSD Linux Kernel) Appliance servers, Client backup servers and server monitoring servers through SNMP traps. I was also responsible for the setup and support for any Linux based servers such as Red Hat 10.0 and Suse 10.0.
In 2006 EPRI Solutions was absorbed into the much larger company, EPRI. All the server side support was migrated to EPRI California and my role changed as far as server support goes. My new role was top level desktop support of windows based systems.
