Resume and cover letter writing have become a skill that one should develop to find a good job. I am working to develop that skill.

About Me

A well focused individual who always puts her best foot forward, conscientously and creatively is the best way to describe me. I always put to practise my wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise at every opportunity I am given.

I am an analytical thinker, an organizer, a polymer expert and above all a scientist.

I have walked into companies that had nothing but a desk for me and an empty room, an empty manufacturing site and I have turned these places into busy manufacturing companies with upscale laboratories that have become the companies' showroom of success. All these, I have done from the revenues I brought into the companies from the innovative products that I have developed for them at almost no time at all. I have an intrinsic and acquired strength in product development and in formulating successful products. Over the years of product development, I have developed a keen sense of predicting a product's physical and chemical properties that have been most often been verified and confirmed accurate with further formal testing.

Where projects have been canned or discontinued for lack of developmental progress from individual chemist or a team of chemical experts, I have single handedly developed
"Signature" products from mere concepts or ideas, complete with full physical and chemical properties and endorsements as to the manufacturing process and specifications and quality control measures to ascertain batch to batch reproducibilty and optimum product performance. Attributed to my name, to name a few, are the following products that in the companies' books have been an impossibility to develop until I came along:
• Acrivue BR, a bullet resisting clear monolithic acrylic (UL-Class III) with interpenetrating network of controlled molecular weight polyurethane
• GAC-590, a clear polyurethane heat resistant product developed for an Advanced Tactical Fighter
• Epoxyseal, an epoxy balanced waterbased acrylic used as a waterproofing roof coating because of its innovative resistance to ponding water
• Surecoat, also an epoxy balanced waterbased, pigmentable acylic used mostly as a coating for stucco for its elastomeric properties and resistance to weathering and penetration by water and chemicals
• Heat Resistant , Impact resistant, fast cast, fast demold 2-component polyurethane for filter housings of performance cars
• High compressive strength, high hardness castable polyurethanes as potting compounds for highway markers
• 2 component systems for Bowling balls, Swim fins, Roller Skateboard wheels and other castable products
• Clear/Pigmentable Single Component Coatings for garage floors, high chemical resistant coatings for industrial floors

My computer skills have been a much needed component in the efficient performance of my job as when I needed to develop a program for "Formula Batch Tickets", my presentations of product applications using Powerpoint, my document controls and reports and others.

I have managed Research and Development and Quality Control Departments or laboratories with such an skill that functions of every individual in my team have been made very clear and without duplications or overlapping. Nobody is ever waiting for further instructions and work is picked up in a second it is generated. With my management skills, everybody wins a merit award because of being able to perform well under the condtions and set-up they are immersed in.

My “motto” in working with people at all corporate levels has always been “HUMILITY” and “RESPECT”. With these, I have effectively worked as a team at any level in my work environment and I have seen people motivated and happy.

Work Experience

  • May 2004 - Mar 2009
    wilmington, CA (US)
    Technical Director
    Polymer and Coatings Company
My job in this company has been very challenging having joined the company from start-up. Essentially, to date, I developed all the products that both Poly-Granite and Marine Fenders International have for distribution and for in-house applications. I set up the companies for chemical manufacturing with my start-up formulations.

Among the innovative products that I have shared with the company are the slow gelling (120 sec vs the standard 3-7 sec 2-component sprayable polyurea, high chemical resistant polyurethane, high performance castable polyurethanes for marine application. I also developed an aliphatic single component polyurea floor coating to name a few.
I was instrumental in setting up all the equipment (blending and storage tanks, raw material pipelines, tools, etc.)
I have written all the material safety data sheets, technical presentations, etc.

  • May 2004 - Mar 2009
    wilmington, CA (US)
    Consultant
    Marine Applications Company
As a consultant, I evaluated and analyzed the company's raw materials, formulations, processes in the relation to manufacture of marine fenders and buoys. I developed as well much needed formulations for products that have impproved performance over existing ones. I had done troubleshooting of problems relating to product and raw material performance, process problems and anything related to on-going problems.
  • Jan 1997 - Aug 2001
    corona, CA (US)
    Technical Director
    Remcor, Inc.
I developed castable polyurethanes of various hardnesses, polyurethane flexible and rigid foams, polyurethane coatings from 2-component to single component moisture cured systems, acrylc, epoxy coating formulations and other polymeric products.
I was in-chrage of the Research and Development Department.
  • 1979 - 1989
    garden grove, CA (US)
    Research Associate
    Swedlow, Inc. (Pilkington Aerospace)
I developed formulations for the aerospace industry including polyurethane room temperature curable and injectable adhesive for laminates, abrasion resistant acrylic coating, bullet resistant acrylic that had met requirements for UL-ClassIII and UL-Class IV, high heat resistant polyurethane.
Performed synthesis work, product characterization and anlysis using wet and instrumental with HPLC, GC, AA, etc.

Education

  • 1972 - 1974
    Master's - M.S. Chemistry
    University of Santo Tomas
  • 1967 - 1972
    Bachelor's - Organic Chemistry
    College of the Holy Spirit
The course I attended was a 5-year B. S. Chemistry course with Organic Chemistry as my major and Analytical Chemistry as my minor.

If given a choice, Cora would rather sing for a living. She used to sing for parties professionaly years ago. Currently, however, she is proud to belong to a Church Choir named Good News Chorale(GNC) from the parish of St. Paul the Apostle.

Cora is a member of the Cursillo Movement whose sole purpose is the "trasnformation of man first, by means of love and friendship, living what is fundamental for being Christian together with our fellow man and thus as a group transform the world, from being savage to human and from human to divine".
