About Me

My experience includes grant program operations from both grants recipient and grants provider perspectives. As a grants recipient, I was charged with stewardship responsibility over grant funds received from federal and state agencies as well as foundations, banks, and private donors. I have written successful grant proposals with awards ranging from $5,000 to $750,000. As a grant recipient, I have had to develop plans, programs, and policies to expend those funds in accordance with granting entities’ regulations and policies. To comply with grant regulations, I have had to establish programs whereby community-based nonprofits partnerships and collaborative relationships were establish.

As a grants provider, I was responsible for facilitating the request-for-proposal process; reviewing and evaluating proposals; providing training for grant-review committees; conducting grant orientation workshops for nonprofits; coordinating outreach efforts to foster collaborative and partnership relationships with nonprofits including faith-based organizations.

My experience also includes serving as staff liaison and as a member of citizens’ boards and commissions with grants oversight responsibilities. Serving in this capacity has afforded me an opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals and to utilize (and sharpen) my written/oral communications and presentation skills. I am adept at managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. I possess a Masters of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning with emphasis in public administration.
