Folks,
After being laid off and over 6 months of unemployment, I have finally found a job. It is not my "ideal" position but a very good one with decent benefits. I start next week.
Although I was on many job boards and had recruiters contacting me and in fact did have a number of interviews, I found this job through LinkedIN!
So to all of you seeking a job, don't give up hope. I thought with my education (Masters), experience and background, I'd have a job in 2-3 months. Well it is a very tough market now for job seekers so you need to have faith, be persistent and keep networking! Good luck to all!
Jimmy, thanks for your efforts in putting this group together. I don't plan on leaving the group and do plan to check back in from time to time. Good luck to you and all our "seasoned job seekers"!

Louie,
That is great news, and this is what we all need to hear, that one
of us found a job. Yes it is very tough out there, and I have been
searching down avenues out of my field just to get out there again.
Good luck on your new job, and thank you for posting and letting the group know, as this is uplifting to me and others I'm sure.
You made your first group post really count. I'm glad you are choosing to remain in the group, so you can keep us posted and
add any helpful feedback to us unemployed 50+ers still left out
here.
Thank you Louie. I created this group as a space for us 50+ people
to make contacts, vent, talk about our experiences at the interview
table and share tricks, ideas, job leads, and help each other find
work. I love this group.

Louie,
I am also in LinkedIn. How did you find the job through LinkedIn. I am also looking. Lynne Lehmer (Lynne Raymond) Quote: Folks,

Hi: Just to let you know, I have also found a position. I have not worked in many years, however, I did return to school to obtain my insurance RCSR license. This has helped me search for a position. the
position is a contract/temporary position which could lead to full-time. Don't give up hope! Keep sending resumes! Due to my age and not working in many years, I thought it would be impossible to find a position. It happened! I am very thankful, and note that senior workers are very conscientious and willing to do a good job to earn their paycheck.
I will stay in group.
Good Luck to All!

Well these are two examples to show that us 'old folks' still got it. Both of you do a great job at those positions and show everyone that there is still lots of gas in the tank after 50!
Great job, Persistance pays off!

Louie L Congratulations! I hope all works out well for you. Yes it is a very tough market and that silly age discrimination thing doesn't help one bit. I hope I will find a decent job soon as well. Unemployment doesn't cover all the bills, that's for sure.
