People are the most important element of any business but they are also the most expensive to manage and retain. In my years managing people I find that "taking care" of the human resources usually pays large dividens for a business. Firstly retention rates go up. Creativeness seems to improve 100%. A family atmosphere seems to develop when the human resources are all working for the "common business goal". I like to nourish these elements. My desire is to "listen more" dictate less and when possible convince the employee to "provide their solution" to the situation at hand. Employees who provide a solution are usually more committed to see it through.
