Consultant for a national contractor that provides training and technical assistance for Head Start grantees in several regions of the country.

About Me

For 15 years I have worked at 2 social service non-profit agencies and 1 state agency that required systems related expertise, skills, and leadership abilities. I lead people and manage assets and resources through sound business practices and principles, appropriate human resource management skills, and extensive operational experience. Although I have 12 years of senior management skills and experience from the military my more recent and relevant skills include: financial budgeting and management, coordinating and growing annual conferences, strategic planning and operational plans implementation, supervising and coaching staff, and hiring and retaining high quality personnel. I have been successful in accomplishing all this while working closely with Board Committees and demonstrating a true caring for people.

 5 years- regional Head Start association – Executive Officer- managed and directed services to enhance the training level of staff, parents, and community resources through conferences, technical assistance consultation, and providing consultants to meet individual organizations needs. Also created systems to monitor grantee program operations to ensure compliance with federal regulations, guidelines, and quality initiatives. These activities served the largest Head Start region in the country (165,000 children and families, 360 grantees with approximately 30,000 employees).
o Started the organization from the ground up- established office and procedures, revised Bylaws, developed Human Resources policies/procedures, created financial policies/procedures, staffed the organization, et al.
o Performed all financial work
o Five years of clean audits
o Worked with a large Board of Directors- 93-members from 8 states.

 8.5 years- non-profit- senior manager hired to manage and direct daily operations for a medium-sized non-profit Head Start agency in Florida (325 employees serving 1,425 children at 19 sites) for Human Resources, facilities procurement and maintenance, financial operations and budgeting, directed computerization of the 19 sites and the entire LAN/WAN server operations system for over 50 full-time users, and transportation system that delivered 750 children to the 19 sites;
o Improved quality- achieved highest quality award for Head Start Agency- NHSA Program of Achievement- 1994, Program of Excellence- 1995, 1998, 2001
o Liaison to agency Board of Directors and the other governing body, the Policy Council
o Participated extensively with community partners, businesses, and other public organizations to increase collaboration and partnerships

 2 years- state agency- division director- managed and directed collaboration services and solicited opportunities to work with 30 Head Start agencies that served 159 counties, through 180 school districts, and approximately 8,000 private child care providers, family daycare homes and centers. Worked in partnership with numerous organizations and entities that serve low-income children and their families to ameliorate services to this population of families that need multiple services across many state-operated agencies (DHR, DPH, DMCH, DFCS/CAPS, DOE, and more), through numerous committees and workgroups to maximize services to the population of families jointly served while minimizing expenditure of limited resources.

I know and understand the non-profit community, social service programs and entities, however all organizations can use skilled and competent leadership and management expertise.
