Have finally moved to a nice apartment and am in the process of getting it all put away and organized.

About Me

I love to travel and am becoming addicted to new technology. I just need a good job to support my addiction. I am also addicted to knitting, having taught myself how in 06. Natural fibers virtually scream my name.

Once I am working, my intent is to go back to school and get my Bachelors, maybe even a Masters. I love to learn and then apply what I've learned.

Maybe that's why the military was so appealing to me. I was able to travel and was constantly learning something new.

There was also the fact that I really am in agreement with most military concepts. Brainwashing, maybe, but a very good kind. Your reaction time is nearly zero and accurate!

Work Experience

    Receptionist, Clerk, Admin.
    Todays Office Professionals
Temporary to permanent job placement service. I like this company very much. I get to work when it's available or go on a trip to visit family when there isn't any.

I have gotten a lot of current experience with them, which helps me keep my skills up to date, and I get to meet new people.

    Seamstress
Create from scratch or from patterns. Clothing, a couple of Wedding dresses, so far. Some uniforms for a private school, costumes, home decor.

  • Jul 1979 - present
    tampa, FL (US)
    Secretary, Admin, Receptionist
    Temporay Services
I've been doing this type of work since I was a kid. I did it over the summers and after I left the Military.

I used Temporary Employment companies because I was raising children. Being a Military Widow ment I had an income, that allowed some leeway in how often or how long I worked so I could be available to my children.

They are adults now with spouses and children of their own and I am ready to get on with life.

As you may have noticed, I earned a degree in my field and later upgraded my skills to stay current.
  • Sep 2009 - Oct 2009
    tampa, FL (US)
    Receptionist
    Talent Tree
Temporary position for Pitney Bowes at Liberty Mutual.

Receptionist; answered phones and controlled entry into a secure area.

Great people and a good Temporary service.
  • May 2007 - Aug 2007
    tampa, FL (US)
    Administrative Associate
    PS Executive Centers
Receptionist for multi-company office with proprietary software to answer the phones, schedule conference room use, mail distribution, guest screening.

My Supervisor said I was loyal and always prompt. I was let go, due to lack of hours, caused by the recession.

I enjoyed this position very much.
  • Jan 1985 - Jul 1986
    nashville, TN (US)
    Secretary, A/P & A/R Clerk
    Mid-South Bolt & Screw, Inc.
Initially, I was hired because I could type and was a vet. I had to type because they were in the process of upgrading to a new computer system. So I re-learned the skills I'd acquired before entering the Military and added some.

Phones, clerked for accounting dept, A/R & A/P. Took handwritten order forms, deciphered them, then entered into a brand new computer system. I also came in an hour early to receive orders that came in from overseas before we were open.

This was one of the most high stress, action packed jobs I had as a civilian and I loved it!

  • Mar 1981 - Sep 1984
    alamogordo, NM (US)
    Penumatic System Specialist
    US Air Force
F-15 Hydraulic systems repair. Aircraft Generation Squadron. While I was in the unit we won several competitions in readiness for Tactical Air Command. I did "remove and replace" work on aircraft and later repaired components while in the Component Repair Squadron. Very Gratifying work, alas my wrists gave out before I wanted to quit, but my time was up anyway, so I became a civilian again. I often wish I hadn't.
