About Me

My name is Laura Wilkerson. As of now I am a 25 year old stay-at-home mother with 2 beautiful girls. As much as I love the life of being home all day with my babies, I am definately ready to get back to the working world hopefully by the first of the year.

I graduated Cosmetology school in July 2008 and received my state license in Sept. 2008. I did go to work for a while in this profession until I came home to take care of my children. Now I am back in the swing of things and searching for that perfect Stylist job for me.

    Worked in a salon as a Hair Designer doing hair cuts, color, perms, manicures and pedicures. Practicing sanitation skills while on duty everyday, as well as keeping the salon clean and swept.

    I did not stay at this position long for a few reasons. I was making a commission based salary only. I was fresh out of school so I didn't really have a set clientele as well as the salon only being a year old business. After paying for a babysitter and gas to and from work weekly, I was not making enough to cover all the expenses and was actually loosing money to go to work right before the holidays.

    I worked in the Jewelry Dept as a Day Receiving Coordinator. I was responsible for checking in shipments of jewelry and distributing them onto the sales floor in their correct place for sale. I was also responsible for packaging and shipping out damaged gold jewelry and accessories. I was also resposible for knowing how to operate the register to cash out customers and place items on layaway, and also to sometimes do audits on the jewelry on layaway. As well as taking returned products from the customer and refunding their money. And of course, my job was to give the best customer service possible.

    Attended school for cosmetology to learn how to cut, color, perm and treat hair. As well as learning hair, we learned about nails and skin and even some anatomy.
    I was state licensed at the end of my course in 2008.
