I was born and educated in Philadelphia, where I spent a year as an Associate Ladies' Footwear Buyer & District Supervisor for 166 Ladybug stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. I was offered this position after selling 10,000 pairs of shoes to their VP/Personnel, from next door neighbor Capezio, where I was the assistant manager. After more than a year, I moved to San Diego, which had always been my plan. I began in San Diego in menswear for The Brick Shirt House stores. After 2 months as an Assistant Manager of one store, I took over as company's Advertising Manager.
