My twenty plus year career has been a combination of education, video production and post. Half this time has been spent in curriculum design and development. The positions primarily held over this time were Curriculum Developer/ Trainer, Editor, Director, Producer and Production Manager. Throughout my career I have taken on numerous responsibilities. These would include defining and designing show content, hiring production staff, managing and overseeing production and post-production crews as well as performing scheduling and budgeting for numerous productions. Having had my own production and post company I have a very clear understand pre-production, production and posts work flows. During the course of my career I have worked on a vast array of different productions. These would primarily include: Sports news shows, commercials, music videos, training videos, promotional videos, instructional videos and awards shows to name a few. I have extensive knowledge of studio and location production (NBC, FOX, CNN, CRL FNN, MJB) as well as extensive experience working with editors and artists in the edit bays. I have supervised crews from five to twenty five with full production responsibilities. This included Location scouting, Permits, Crew call, Equipment requirements, Talent, Props and Special Effects. I work very well under pressure having worked at some of the major stations in town, which are all high intensity production environments.
My last post was as a Curriculum Developer/ Trainer for Thomson Grass Valley in which I headed up training and development for their proprietary software for Digital News Production. This suite of five individual software products required very specific training development. This included classroom, webex, on-line tutorials and on-site training for technical and non-technical staff. Continually redesigned training platform and delivery methods to enhance the overall training process. Worked very closely with the R & D staff on new software feature enhancements and overall software design to better suit our clients needs. Also managed on-site training to ensure proper course deployment and delivery. Developed and updated all written course materials (Manuals, Handouts, Flash media files) as well as PowerPoint slides for classroom sessions. Worked on the largest SAN install in the world (As of 08) in which I worked side by side with IT staff and engineers through the entire commissioning process. Also developed custom training to suit the clients (KCBS / KCAL) needs under tight training deadlines. Was the on-site training manager well through the go-live date and assisted in follow-up refresher training for all production staff. During my eight years as an instructor at UCLA extension I taught three courses, these were; “Introduction To Video Tape Editing“ ”Production 1”and ”Editing for Directors”. I structured each course which included: Course outlines, Course development, Equipment requirements list, student handout materials, guest speaker scheduling and A/V materials lists. Also provided career guidance counseling and was named one of the top ten Instructors by student evaluations. At New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Culver City I taught Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and also Windows. I structured each course and custom designed exercises that best suited the client’s needs
