About Me

Results-driven Technical Program Manager with progressive responsibility in global and domestic leadership, time management, lean engineering, and complex design and assembly. Proven experience leading teams using lean initiatives to implement change, exceed customer expectations, execute continuous improvement, reduce costs, and exceed common goals and objectives.

Work Experience

  • 2005 - 2009
    portage, MI (US)
    Engineering Technical Manager
    Summit Polymers
    • Implemented a global lean development system within a team of 12 managers and executives from areas of engineering, manufacturing, tooling, quality and purchasing. Trained company personnel in benchmark-ing, identifying and utilizing standards; and problem solving techniques.
    • Patented viscous dampened automotive register thereby addressing the largest customer complaint of inconsistent feel when operating air registers in vehicles. Allowed consistent feel of register when operat-ed.
    • Incorporated a kaizen system into the design input procedure to help include innovation in the design system while reducing risk at the same time.
    • Led design of first complex assembly for automobile air registers in China facility to decrease over-head costs by 50% on development programs. Developed and followed-up on expectations among tool shops, tooling, and project engineers globally.

  • 2002 - 2005
    portage, MI (US)
    Engineering Group Manager
    Summit Polymers
    • Integrated manufacturing into the design process and allowed for quick change-over magnetic platens and roller system. This helped get reduced mold-changes from 30 minutes to as little as 5 minutes.
    • Helped incorporate a print review system that allowed engineers and designers to report on progress of programs. Incorporated and designed input and output for initiating and launching programs, resulting in teams decreasing development lead times to as little as six weeks on complex assemblies.
    • Rescued Toyota, Subaru, and Lear accounts by incorporating customer focused program managers that exceeded customer expectations through cost, quality and delivery.
    • Established a standard quoting system with Toyota resulting in decreased quoting lead times to 72 hours for complex assemblies.
  • 1999 - 2002
    portage, MI (US)
    Engineering Program Manager
    Summit Polymers
    • Initiated and capitalized on first offshore tooling program consisting of 40 tools for Mercedes. Coor-dinated efforts among a team of project, tooling, and gauge engineers; German and domestic customers; designers; toolshops; Canadian texture shops; and production facility in Mexico. Effort increased profit margins approximately 30% over the life of the program and produced the largest profit margins in history of company.
    • Developed a system to help staff appropriate personnel for program milestones that took into account history of past development, and applied that to current programs. Also allowed for predictions of staffing needed for future programs based on program lead times, number of complex assemblies, tools, and cus-tomers.
    • Launched first two-shot tambered door resulting in a decrease of tooling by $70000 and piece price re-duction of 30%.
    • Developed monthly evaluation method to give employees constant feedback and increase moral as well as being customer focused to allow us to exceed customer expectations.
  • 1995 - 1999
    portage, MI (US)
    Project Engineer
    Summit Polymers
    • Helped conceive a standards system that recorded the best practices of design and manufacturing for au-tomotive air registers. Standards were implemented into the print review system to allow reviews for com-pliance on new programs.
    • Launched first two-shot component in register assembly to increase air shut-off capabilities and at the same time decreasing tooling costs by $50000.
    • Pioneered and implemented two million dollars of cost saving ideas to achieve a profit margin of twenty percent, from an original five percent, over life of Saturn 2000 program.
    • Reestablished Delphi account by showing multiple prompt deliveries and improved quality. Resulted in being awarded next larger program as well.
