Work Experience

  • Jan 2009 - present
    baltimore, MD (US)
    Owner & Editor
    My Moleskine is Re(a)d
My Moleskine is Re(a)d is a blog and copy editing service. The blog is devoted to news within the publishing industries, especially concerning women and underrepresented populations in publishing.

The copy editing service devotes most of its time to high education students pursuing advanced degrees and their work. However, I also have non-profit clients looking to clean up their grant proposals and clients who use my services for internal business documents. I strive to make My Moleskine a client's personal, 24/7 writing center, thus, the reference to a journal in the name of the company.

The motto: "Although traditional Moleskine journals are black and only explored by their owners, my moleskine is re(a)d!"

Eventually, I hope to make My Moleskine Is Re(a)d a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women and minorities pursuing advanced degrees and progressive publishing organizations and businesses.

If you think you could use my services, please email me for rates!

    Editorial Assistant
    Lippincott Williams & Wilkins
Currently, half of my time is devoted to the medical journal, Neurosurgery, and its supplements. That part of my time is spent proofreading, some copy drafting, and working as the publication's coordinator. During the other half of my time at LWW, I act as the general editorial assistant for the department's journal teams, fulfilling administrative and junior editorial responsibilities.
  • May 2005 - Dec 2007
    charlottesville, VA (US)
    Founder & Editor-in-Chief
    Pride Magazine
At the University of Virginia, I founded the only black student interest publication. During my time with Pride, I acted as Creative Director, Layout Editor, and President. I was able to raise over $25,000 for the publication and its activities. Pride is currently in its fourth year at UVA, hosts various events on grounds, and sponsors a bi-annual Black Media Symposium.
  • May 2005 - Aug 2007
    charlottesville, VA (US)
    Library Assistnat
    UVA Library
At the University of Virginia, I used most of my work study hours as a library assistant for its busiest library, Clemons. I have a passion for books. Not just reading them, but preserving them, studying them, and collecting rare editions. This position made me consider obtaining a Masters in Library Science, which is still a strong possibility.
