About Me

A Renaissance man, Stuart Pivar is an accomplished inventor, musician, author, scientist, and art collector. A man of many talents and interests, Mr. Pivar has brought a profound intellect and love of ideas to the diverse projects he has undertaken during his lifetime. A Pivar quote from Time Magazine perhaps best sums up his enthusiasm for art, life, and learning: "To be a knowledgeable collector of [art] you have to be a mythologist as well as a historian. Being a collector turns you into an aesthete, a financier, a voyager, a voyeur and a scholar." Pivar is all of these things and more, as is evidenced by his success in art and business. A close friend of Andy Warhol, Pivar founded the New York Academy of Art along with the American pop artist in 1979. Mr. Pivar is also an entrepreneur and owns several plastics companies nationwide.

A published author, Mr. Pivar crafted an authoritative work on the French sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye entitled “The Barye Bronzes: A Catalogue Raisonné.” This work has seen several printings, and it is still in demand in art and book communities. More recently, Stuart Pivar has been working on a book on the origins and evolution of life. Prior to taking his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, Mr. Stuart Pivar attended Brooklyn Technical High School.

A skilled musician, Stuart Pivar plays the harpsichord, flute, cello, and piano. Mr. Pivar currently resides in New York.
